Our Teams

Youth (ages 11 and up) are invited to take part in our worship services by being an acolyte.

Acolytes help in our Sunday worship by lighting the candles on the altar and carrying the cross at the beginning and end of our services. The role of Acolyte goes back to the 3rd century (AD 201-300), and helps in the functioning of our Sunday worship.

The Altar Guild prepares the sanctuary altar and related areas, enhancing our services with their eye for beauty and design. This team ensures that the day’s liturgical color is included in beautifying the sanctuary on Sundays and for other special services. They also serve by providing the Communion bread and preparing linens for the altar.

Do you enjoy helping in the nursery or teaching kids about Jesus?

Children’s Ministry volunteers are needed in two areas during our Sunday services:

  • Nursery: Volunteers help our staff nursery assistant with kids ages 0-3 years.
  • Life Lessons: Volunteers share a pre-provided lesson for children ages 4 years through 4th grade alongside our staff Life Lessons assistant.

Those interested in serving in these areas will be contacted for more information before being able to serve.

Do you enjoy serving, providing, or cooking meals for others?

The Hospitality Meals Team helps with meals for certain groups and events (whether cooking them or bringing something they’ve picked up), such as for our Alpha groups and our Anglicanism 101 gatherings.

Lay readers serve in our worship services by reading the Scriptures from the Old Testament, Responsive Psalm, and New Testament from the Sunday Lectionary. They also lead us in the Prayers of the People.

Time Commitment

  • A few minutes to read over the weekly readings and prayers (being sure to check an audio Bible for name pronunciations if needed!)
  • 15 minutes before service to pray with the team.

Small group hosts are individuals or couples who either open their homes for a small group and/or desire to lead a small group in discussions and teaching.

Are you someone who likes to serve behind the scenes?

We need volunteers to help with pre-service sound check, monitor sound, and run projection slides during our worship services. We will train you--it's easier than you think! Our music leader takes care of pre-service setup, so you won't have to come as early and you don't have to build the actual slides each week.

Typically, we have a pre-service tech volunteer and an in-service volunteer, so if you can't come as early, you can still serve during services (or vise-versa).

Time Commitment

  • 25-30 minutes before services on Sundays
  • For pre-service techs: 45 minutes prior to services when needed for a longer pre-service sound check.

Are you someone who likes to help others feel welcome in a new place?

Those who serve on the Welcome Team are typically the first people newcomers meet when they arrive at The Vine. They are always ready to greet those who enter with a smiling face, helping guests find their place and feel at home.

Do you play an instrument or sing? Would you like to help lead people in musical worship?

Worship musicians and singers serve on the music team by assisting the music leader in enhancing the music and songs utilized during our services. We’d love if you can commit to serve 2-3 Sundays per month, but less is okay too (burnout is something we seek to avoid!)

Time Commitment (for weeks you’re serving)

  • Personal practice time (as needed)
  • Weekly Team Rehearsal (none during the summer!)
  • Pre-service rehearsal and sound check on Sundays (1-1 1/4 hours before service start time)

*Those interested in serving in these areas will be contacted for more information before being able to serve.

Do you have a heart for teens?

Youth team volunteers provide a kind and encouraging adult presence in our Sunday evening fellowship and at special gatherings. Their first responsibility is to partner with the leadership in ensuring that each gathering is a safe, fun, and meaningful experience for our youth. Their second responsibility is to have a fun and meaningful experience themselves!

Time Commitment

  • Either every 2nd or every 4th Sunday from 4:30-7:15PM; both Sundays each month if possible would be great.

Those interested in serving in these areas will be contacted for more information before being able to serve.
