Service Time (4p/3p): Chasing Light

Our service time is rolling with the time changes: 4:00pm worship during Daylight Savings Time, 3:00pm worship during Standard Time.
WHY WOULD WE GET MORE COMPLICATED?!
This idea came from some really good observations in your feedback forms, when we surveyed about service time. As a church, we discerned 3:00pm was our best option. Some of you noted that the day can feel split in two, and others notes the sleepiness effect of 3:00pm in the summer. So we asked you to give your opinion, at our July 6 cookout and some follow-up conversations, between 3:00pm through the year or 3:00/4:00pm split. Your response was overwhelmingly for a 3:00/4:00pm split instead of 3:00pm through the year.
Tracking with the actual daylight, this 3:00/4:00pm split will give us more of the day before worship. After worship, it will leave us closer to dinnertime for our potlucks when we have them. 3:00pm in colder months leaves us with more light and warmth to protect from refreezing precipitation—I also tend to feel like hibernating in the winter once the sun goes down.
This is not forever, but it is firmly for now, and our foreseeable near term. While there is added complexity, it’s nothing some clear and well-planned communication (and perhaps a time-change party!) wouldn’t help make clear.
