Dear Friends,
This summer we are introducing prayer ministry teams to our Sunday worship at The Vine.
On the first week of each month during Communion, you will have the opportunity to be prayed for by a team of two prayer ministers: trusted members of our community who have spent time preparing to hear your requests, and bring them to God on your behalf. You can ask prayers for healing, guidance, breakthrough, an experience of God’s love, or anything else you are carrying. They will pray in humble confidence that God hears and meets us when we ask of him.
If you are new to this kind of ministry, here’s what you can expect: our prayer ministers will listen to your request, they will not give advice or try to fix your situation. They will not shout at you or try to make you fall over. They will ask if they can lay a hand on your shoulder or perhaps anoint your forehead with oil. You can expect confidentiality—nobody will discuss your requests afterward.
These times of prayer are short by design: 3 or 4 minutes. This may not seem like enough time to really accomplish anything, but I had a life-changing experience when someone prayed for me in this way. (Ask me about it sometime.)
In the meantime, I encourage you to avail yourself of this opportunity to be prayed for by others, by name, when we gather together. It’s one way we can act on our belief that when we worship, we encounter a living God.
